My view has always been that our SPICE parents have that special something that helps them to raise children with additional needs.
It’s never easy for any parent in these times so why not throw in a Coast to Coast trek in aid of SPICE and Brainwave just to add that extra ‘je ne sais quoi’ to everyday life!
Well, that’s what Lynne, mum to Louie and Stella has decided to do with her planned trip that routes her Coast to Coast in aid of both SPICE and Brainwave, two charities that have supported her son Louie. Her adventure starts this Tuesday 27th July 2021.
The Coast to Coast trip was dreamt up by the famous hill walker and writer, Alfred Wainwright and showcases the very best three national Parks of England. Starting at the red sandstone sea cliffs of St Bees and passing through the dramatic rugged mountains of the Lake District, Lynne will trek through the softer landscapes of the Yorkshire dales and over the heather-clad North York moors before finishing in the quaint fishing village of Robin Hood’s bay!
With 192 miles ahead of her, SPICE Chair, Ricci Hodgson was eager to find out what preparation Lynne had made ahead of this adventure – ‘I’ll be walking over twenty miles each day, some days more and other days less, but those are the days that are worrying me as the shorter days involve climbing up and down hills!’
Regarding what preparation Lynne has done to get her body ready for this ordeal, she smiles and said ‘I’m a very busy person but I am going to start packing on Sunday afternoon! I’ve bought some Kendall mint cake and a waterproof so I should be fine!’
Everyone at SPICE wishes Lynne all the very best and we’ll be updating her progess on the SPICE FaceBook page. It’s not too late to support Lynne to reach her SPICE target and those wishing to donate can click here. Lynne did confirm that she’s got plenty of packs of Compeed for any blisters!!
