Barn dancing Doris Raises Money for SPICE!

Once again the Keep family are at the forefront of fundraising for SPICE!

On Sunday 25th March we were delighted to meet up with Auntie Doris, pictured here along with her great niece and nephew, Antonia and Aston Keep, SPICE chair, Ricci Hodgson and SPICE vice chair, Lucy Edwards.

Doris presented Lucy with a cheque for £530 and in her own words, this is the background to this fantastic support.

‘For my 80th birthday, I decided to celebrate with a Barn Dance/party. Instead of people giving me presents I asked if they would support me with money donations for my two chosen charities. SPICE and Bridge2Aid. My daughter in law, traveled to Africa with other dental professionals to provide dental training to medical personnel so that they, in turn, would be able to carry out minor dental procedures for local people. The sum of £1,060 was raised at the party, which was totally unexpected. It gave me great pleasure to be presenting half that amount to SPICE. You are all doing a wonderful job.

I did enjoy my time yesterday at the rink and seeing for myself the progress some of these young people have achieved. My niece Kay is an inspiration to my ‘family’. The energy she puts into everything in which she is involved is amazing. Antonia’s achievements and confidence on the ice, more so when she is in her hockey gear, astound me. They give me such joy and I am lucky to have them in my life.’

From everyone at SPICE, many thanks, Doris! Next time, you’re having a barn dance, let us know!
