The Prince Philip Trust Fund Supports TEAM SPICE’s Performances

Friends of SPICE were recently the beneficiaries of a grant from the Prince Philip Trust Fund to enable our synchro skaters, TEAM SPICE, to attend two important national skating events and to look fab in new costumes!
TEAM SPICE performed a routine at the recent British Ice Skating Gala in Sheffield and are now excitedly preparing to perform an exhibition routine at the upcoming British Synchronized Skating Championships in Nottingham!
Hotel accommodation and special costumes were funded by the fantastic support from the Prince Philip Trust Fund who donated £1500 to Friends of SPICE.

SPICE chair, Ricci Hodgson said ‘we are so grateful to the Prince Philip Trust Fund to enable our skaters to be able to showcase their abilities on the ice in front of packed ice arenas. Our members all have additional needs and have shown real grit and dedication to develop their skills as well as learn to take part as a team in ice skating. To have a real focus and something to train for has been a really exciting journey for our members and we are so grateful to the Prince Philip Trust Fund to have made this possible.’

Ross Wilson, Treasurer and Trustee of The Prince Philip Trust Fund said “Helping young people with additional needs to access all kinds of sports is very important to the Trust Fund and we are delighted to be able to support Spice Skating with a grant this year. This funding will provide the Team Spice skaters with exciting new opportunities to perform at a number of high profile events, giving them confidence and a lot of pride in showcasing what they can do. We wish them every success.”

TEAM SPICE’s next outing is on Saturday 19th January 2019 at the National Ice Arena, Nottingham so look out for more updates, thanks to the generous support of The Prince Philip Trust Fund!
